Good for access control April 24, 2013
Reviewer: Kyle Stache from Durand, IL United States
We use these locks in a nursing home for access control.  It is much easier to change a code then have locks re-keyed anytime an employee leaves or a key gets lost.  We have nearly 50 of these units in place right now.  As for maintenance, we replace the battery every 12 months whether it needs it or not.  The one bad thing is that the internal drive spring in these locks can break, but we definitely use them more then the average homeowner would use them ( they are considered residential, not commercial).  Some of our doors are opened in excess of 100 times a day.  According to Schlage the spring is not replaceable, but is covered under the warranty.  I have sourced my own springs, and keep a handful available in case a lock fails.  The lock will not open without the key if the spring fails, so make sure you have a key available or another access point to whatever you are locking with this lock.
